Enjoy a Profitable Hobby with Polymer Clay

March 7th 2009 00:35
Pottery and beading have always fascinated me. In fact, I started making my own fashion jewelry, some of them were made from polymer clay. I don’t know yet how to make beads out of it but I usually buy them at my favorite arts and crafts store. Most of those I make are usually used by me, my sister and mother. The others we give to our relatives, close friends and the extra ones, we sell. I was able to earn an extra income from making and selling them.

Beading is not only a good way to spend and enjoy our extra time but it is also a profitable hobby. The internet has made it possible for us to sell our products not only locally but worldwide. Another great hobby that is equally productive is pottery. Pottery develops our skills and as we try new designs again and again, our skills slowly becomes perfected.

Polymer clay is one of the ingredients for making beads and pots. It is a sculptable material which is based on polymer polyvinyl chloride (PVC). (Wikipedia) Though it contains no clay minerals, it is usually called "clay" because its texture and working properties resemble those of mineral clay. We can usually buy it in craft, hobby, and art stores. It is popularly used by artists, hobbyists, and children. Children love playing with it.

AMACO/Brent is an online store that has supplies for pottery education, arts and crafts. They have almost all you need from how to start to how to use professional products out of polymer clay. If you don't know how to use polymer clay, AMACO/Brent has a selection of books for clay techniques and how to’s. They have all the necessary materials, guides and samples for your polymer arts craft. They also have more than a dozen lead free glazes and underglazes that you can choose from.

Polymer clay art is an enjoyable craft that is safe for children and is also a great profitable hobby for adults. Many children love playing with clay and to make their playing more enjoyable, we can teach them how to make polymer clay beads or even pottery. For your pottery needs, the site has also a wide selection of ceramic pottery kilns that you can choose from. They also have instructional kits for teachers, kids and their crafts, framers, professional potters, and even craft designers.

Make the most of that free time or if you are a stay at home mom, try doing pottery and fashion accessories production. Not only that you will be able to spend more time with your kids, you will also have a profitable hobby that will help you earn extra income.
