Places To Visit In Ireland: The Dublin Castle
June 10th 2010 15:34
The Dublin Castle has a rich history as it became the residence of many historical figures of authority of Ireland. It was originally built as a defensive fortification for the Norman city of Dublin but later on became the Royal residence. It used to be a symbol of Royal authority in the whole of Ireland and was the centre of administration. It used to be the official residence of the State councils, Lords Deputy and Lord Lieutenants and at times the Law Courts and the Parliament.
Today, what we can see are only fragments of this great historical landmark. Most recently, it has already become a major Irish government complex.
